For safety reasons traffic through the bridge is one way, controlled by traffic lights. Priority is broadcast on VHF Channel 12 prior to the bridge lift. Traffic lights apply to all vessels whether they require a bridge lift or not. For your own safety and the safety of others you must observe and conform to bridge navigation lights and the instructions of bridge operators at all times. To minimise the time the bridge is raised, vessels are requested to maintain close formation to the vessel ahead as safe navigation will permit.

Town Bridge navigation traffic lights are different from and should not be confused with Pierhead traffic signals.
