A great way to explore Weymouth and if you venture further afield its surrounding areas. A popular route is the Rodwell trail detailed below, but if you like a more challenging cycle, there are routes to Sherborne or even Lyme Regis! Check out Travel Dorset for more information.
The Rodwell Trail
Approx 40 minutes, easy cycling to Ferrybridge, with views across Portland Harbour. Follow the harbour under the Town Bridge and keep going until you pass a pedestrian crossing. Take the next left and you'll cross over Westham Bridge, where you will pick up the cycle route signs to Portland which will take you onto the Rodwell Trail. When you get to the end of the trail, if you cross the road, your journey can continue to the Fine Foundation Chesil Beach Centre and its café.
There is a bridge across the Fleet Lagoon to Chesil Bank with amazing views of the wildlife of this special place. Look south and you'll see the Isle of Portland and its cliffs just waiting to be explored. If the climb up them looks a little challenging (and it really is!) but you are not ready to finish your adventure, continue your bike ride to the Cove House Inn, nestled in a sheltered spot at their foot, where you can enjoy a nice cold well earned drink.
