Site Investigations at Weymouth Harbour
07 December 2020
Dorset Council, in partnership with WSP Ltd and Hansford Construction Ltd, are carrying out site investigation works on Weymouth’s Pavilion peninsula between Monday 7 and Friday 18 December. The works will help to inform the design of repairs to two sections of harbour wall which forms part of the wider Weymouth Quay Regeneration Scheme.
Trial pits will be excavated to uncover existing infrastructure in order to assess its condition. Five of the six pits will be in the secure harbour compound, with one placed to the west of the old Condor ferries terminal building (Building B). Access to this part of the quay will be restricted while works are carried out and members of the public are asked to stay a safe distance from all plant and work compounds.
We do not anticipate significant disturbance due to noise and vibration while these works are carried out, however the work will involve the movement of plant and materials.
